Leading Wildland Helmet Gets Firefighter-Centric Update

Goggle Access Points transform Bullard XL Wildfire Helmet

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY USA – May 17, 2024 Bullard, a leader in wildland fire helmets, announces an improvement to the extra-large full-brim helmet model in its Wildfire® Series. Goggle access points are now incorporated into every FH911XL Wildfire Helmet. This feature provides greater comfort by reducing the gapping, pulling, and snagging of goggle straps.

Goggle access points are robust slots molded into the brim of the helmet, allowing the firefighter’s goggle straps to pass through the brim securely, keeping the strap close to the head. Goggle access points are designed specifically for Bullard wildland goggles.

“We worked closely with wildland firefighters in the field to develop and test these new improvements,” said Bullard CEO Wells Bullard. “By incorporating their direct feedback and ideas, we’ve been able to bring new benefits to an already well-loved helmet and continue to support wildland firefighters.”

The FH911XL Wildfire Helmet from Bullard continues to feature an extra-large shell to comfortably accommodate a variety of head sizes and shapes, while also facilitating air flow around the head. As a full-brim helmet, FH911XL also offers 360-degree sun protection. Like all Wildfire Series Helmets, FH911XL features a high-heat thermoplastic outer shell, extra-large pillowed brow pad, and customizable comfort suspension.

In addition to the introduction of new goggle access points, Bullard also announces improvements to the Ear Neck Protector accessory available for Bullard Wildfire Series Helmets. The R224 Ear Neck Protector now offers enhanced coverage of the face and a fit designed to better conform to the wildland firefighter’s needs.

Bullard Wildfire Series Helmets meet all performance standards and requirements under NFPA 1977, Standard on Protective Clothing and Equipment for Wildland Fire Fighting and ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, Type I, Class E & G.

Bullard Wildfire Series Helmets and accessories, including the updated FH911XL and R224 Ear Neck Protector, are available now through Bullard-authorized distributors. To see additional specs and features, visit https://www.bullard.com/fire-helmets/bullard-wildland-fire-helmets/.
